King's Dominion
     September 11th, 2004
Taking advantage of the only weekend this fall that does not have a major NC State or Virginia Tech football game, the 5 of us headed up to Richmond, VA for a day at King's Dominion. The weather was good and we left at a reasonable hour in the morning. We stopped for food, gas and more food before we arrived. I had a brief lesson in chivalry from the lady at Burger King. It made lunch rather amusing. It was early afternoon when we made it through the metal detectors into the park.

First things first, we headed to the nearest ride to start a fun day of waiting in line after line. The first ride we chose was the Volcano ride. Everytime I've tried to get on this ride, it has been broken or shutdown for repair. This time we made it about halfway through the line before it shut down. Fortunately it became operational again fairly quickly, so the line only ended up being about an hour long.

I have always heard good things about this ride, but I was just expecting them to be exaggerations. I'd have to give this one the title of "Best Ride of the Park". It is very smooth, has a bunch of turns and twists and does not have a long chain drive at the beginning. If the line weren't so long, we would have done this one again.

After that, more waiting in line! Flight of Fear this time. Not that great of an indoor ride. Very jerky. Ah well, who cares... more photos.

I decided to yank out the camera on the next ride... Anaconda! Tough to take accurate pictures when you're moving. Ah well, worth a try.

Some photos from later that day in the park. If you are going to win one of the Nemo clown fish, you gotta win them all. It just is not cool to separate the group.

After the park we hit Friendly's on the way home. To Jen, Friendly's is a little piece of home. Although this particular restaurant was more of a ghetto piece of home. The food was good though, so we ate our share and hit the road back to Raleigh
