New Years Eve - 1999
Tuna Gorda, Corolla, Outer Banks, North Carolina
Woohoo! Beach trip! So maybe it isn't the best time of the year to go to the beach. December 28th is not a date known for its beach appeal. But as it turns out, we had some great weather and some glorious days of festivities to match!

This shot was taken at O-6:30. What's the O for? O' my God it's early!

Here's the place we stayed: Tuna Gorda. It's located on the Outer Banks, in the village of Corolla, North of Kitty Hawk. It has everything you really need at the beach: sand, surf, shelter, and a HOT TUB!

We had a great crowd of people too. I brought Dallas, Jeff brought his twisted sense of humor. Jeff's family was there in full force. Mom, Dad, his brother Ryan, his sister Michelle, Michelle's friend Carrie, Carrie's parents, Carrie's parent's friends. And Carrie's parent's friend's daughter, and Ryan's friends. Full house! (Which beats two pair any day.)

We walked around and saw the sights that are around the place. The water was too cold to do any serious swimming, but Jeff did it anyway. Several of us ran out into the ocean and back to the hot tub one evening, but that hurt quite a bit so we didn't do it again.

Twister! The ultimate in family entertainment. The kids play the game while everyone else in the family laughs. I somehow ended up in the game. My knee injury quickly took me out of it, but it was still fun. Someone broke out a can of Silly String and doused the room with it.

These are just butt shots. When playing Twister, there's really no other way to be. You gotta have everything else on the board, and a butt in the air. Look, there's even someone in a really bad spot in that last picture. Who took that shot?!?

Plenty of other games were played that weekend. I got too involved with some jigsaw puzzles. Canasta was taught and played as well as some good ol' Spades.

Here's the pics of Michelle and Carrie. Carrie starts at Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2000, and I'm betting that Michelle will be there too. She's already got the wardrobe for it and VT already has most of her parents' money, so she should have it easy getting in.

This is at the stroke of midnight. We piled out on the deck to make sure that the architect did his part in reinforcing it. Everyone is fairly well in the party state of mind at this point. (The aliens never did show up.)

Here's some shots of me hanging on the women. Somehow I ended up with these, which means that my camera was involved. I don't know who actually took the shots though.

The festivities were grand. Plenty of food and plenty of drink to be had. Somehow, moderation slipped out the window and everyone overly enjoyed themselves. This last shot shows Travis regaining conciousness at the top of the stairs.

Here's the dance floor during the YMCA song. This just goes to show what happens when alcohol goes bad. The third shot shows Jeff giving everyone dance lessons from the 1980 middle school crowd. We got to see the sprinkler, the lawnmower and the shopping cart... I think that was about all anyone could take.

Maggie! Such a tolerant dog. She made it through all of the party without complaint. She even helped clean up the champagne when needed.
