From Memphis to the Outer Banks in less than 2 days. I headed from Memphis through
Kingsport, visiting my sister along the way and then home to Raleigh. From there I repacked and grabbed some friends
and drove on out to Tuna Gorda. This is a part of the group that I play games with about once a month at Bryan's house
in Cary. This trip included Bryan, Dallas, Brian, Bart, Alan and myself.
We arrived in the early evening and went straight to relaxation. The hot tub was primed and ready to go, so we took full advantage of it. We enjoyed the warmth for a while and then went back in to play games and mainly just not doing anything serious. We spent a good portion of the weekend running through the Labyrinth of Madness which is as weird as it sounds. We did not want to spend the whole weekend inside, so we took breaks to go play in the sun and hit the beach. Alan pulled out his stunt kite and took it for a few spins around the sand. Dallas whipped out her digital camera and proceeded to make some interesting photos. The one with her blurry is pretty cool. We played and played and played and on Sunday most of the group left leaving Alan and I to hang out at the house for another day. There is absolutely no reason not to take a day off of work to play at the beach. We took a few hours to finish a few chores like painting the trim on the doors and what-not, but in between we played many a game of Dr. Mario. Just getting away from everything... We finished up that night and took off for home. Little did we know that it was our last chance to enjoy Tuna Gorda. It sold in the Spring of 2002 to a new owner and we'll only see it in passing again... passing it on the way to the new beach house! WOOOHOOO!
