Alecia had never been to see the Virginia Tech campus, so
we decided to take a weekend trip up to Blacksburg and show her around. We took off on a Saturday
morning and made our way into Virginia. I showed Alecia around the campus a little and
then we took off for the Cascade trail in Pembroke to do some hiking.
For those of you that have never been to see the Cascade Trail, it is a 2 mile (each way) hike to the base of a 80+ foot waterfall. It is a very mild hike, following a small creek through the woods to the pool and falls. I've been swimming in the pool (only on the summertime) at the base of the fall and it is very much fun. We enjoyed the hike and took a few pictures of the falls while we were there. Alecia showed her school spirit with the appropriate T-shirt.

After the hiking, we went for a drive up to Mountain Lake. It's a very
winding road up to the top of a hill that has a pretty cool little lake and resort on it.
It is also the location where they filmed Dirty Dancing. The place fills up pretty quickly
for events like Mother's Day and such.
From there we went to eat at Macadoo's. My favorite restaurant in the area. It's nothing fancy, but it does have goooooood sandwhiches. Our original plan was to camp out in the back of the Tribute somewhere down by the New River, but we decided to grab a hotel room and relax a bit. We had a little trouble finding one since there was like some Athlete convention in town, but we did find one eventually. All in all a good trip!
