Over the past few years, me and many of my friends have grown fond of going out
to the Outer Banks to hang out at Tuna Gorda. Now "The Big Tuna" has been
sold to new owners and it is going to be missed. So what can we do to help us through our loss?
Buy another beach house!
What started out as a joke of "Wanna buy a beach house?" between Alan and I has turned into a full-fledged effort of pooling resources and finding out if this is really a possibility. We've done some shopping around, we've done some walkthroughs and we've made our first effort at actually buying a beach house. At the time of this writing we are still in the negotiation phase to see if we can get the seller to cover some of the cost of the work that is going to be involved in fixing this place back up to rentable standards. I think they'll bite the big one and give us what we want... the house is in desparate need of some maintenance. So without further ado... Welcome to Windsounds! It's not quite as big as Tuna Gorda, but it has a lot of the same features that made Tuna Gorda soooo awesome! It's on the Outer Banks in the Corolla Light community, it has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a screened-in porch with a hot tub, a nice place for a hammock, an excellent view of the Sound, short walking distance to the community indoor recreational center, a quick drive (< 1/2 mile) to the beach and a little bit further away (< 1 mile) from the ocean-side community center.

I think I mentioned the indoor and ocean-side recreational centers above, but
to cover it in more detail, the indoor center has 2 tennis courts, a weight room, a walleyball court, a racquetball
court, a yoga room, a video game & table tennis room, an indoor lap pool and a jacuzzi.
There's a sound-side outdoor pool and kiddie pool. Not much worth mentioning there. The ocean-side center has several outdoor pools, a basketball court, 2 tennis courts, a sand volleyball pit, shuffleboard lanes, a restaurant & mini-bar and beach access. You can see most of this from the pictures here. When we went out in March, the center was closed for the center and in need of cleaning.

What trip to a beach house would be complete without women! Bryce
kindly volunteered to be the first one out to the house, even though we don't own it yet. We walked
around for a bit, took the photos and then wandered around the area for a while. Such a beautiful
day at such a beautiful place.
